My sweet baby...

BOY!!!!

I had my ultrasound today and it was such a cool experience to get to see baby Ashment. As soon as the technician had the baby on the screen I could tell that it was a boy. He was so sweet and just sucked on his thumb the whole time. With Dylan's ultrasound, he had his legs way up over his head and was touching his toes, so I'm wondering if that might be an indicator that this one will be a little more subdued. The baby's development is looking good, and for now, his head is down. The real challenge now is going to be coming up with a name that Isaac and I can agree on. Wish me luck!

Hilton Head/ Brunswick visit

After a bumpy start, which included Dylan coming down with the croup, and me having to go to the E.R. because of throwing up 20+ times due to an infection, we finally made it out for our vacation. We went to Hilton Head Island for the first part of the week and then went to visit my Grandma and Aunts and Uncle down in Brunswick at the end of our trip. We were supposed to find out what the sex of the baby is this past Friday, but we had to reschedule since our trip changed last minute due to me and Dyan getting sick. So, now we have to wait until Tuesday. Oh the suspense!!!

It was our first time going to Hilton Head, and we had so much fun. To my surprise I think our favorite part was when we spent the day riding bikes on the beach and on the many bike paths along the island. Dylan rode in a seat behind Isaac that he was buckled into. He looked so cute riding bikes and I'm pretty sure he kept at least one hand on the handle bars the whole time.

This was Dylan's first time to the beach and I couldn't believe how terrified he was of the waves. he didn't want to be anywhere near the water and would try to make his way off the beach as soon as he was put down on his feet.

Some other fun things from Hilton Head were:
  • going to the Island Playground, an indoor playground with inflatables and other toys
  • taking a dolphin cruise (we left the camera in the car, so didn't get any pictures of our excursion)
  • playing on the beach, when Dylan would let us
Here are some pictures from Hilton Head.

Grandma's house was a fun visit as well. Some of our highlights were seeing what the fuss is about Barbara Jeans Restaurant on St. Simons, visiting a windy Jekyll Island, indulging ourselves with Grandma's cooking, and hanging out with family. It was too bad that we ended up with such a short amount of time out there with them. We'll have to try to make it back there sometime again soon.

Update on baby, 16 weeks

So, I am 16 weeks now and feel like my stomach is HUGE (my belly button is already poking out!). Everybody is telling me that you start showing much earlier with the second baby, so I hope they are true. I think that my morning sickness is just about over, but every time I think I'm past that part, I get sick again. A couple of my favorite stories are, once after I was finished in the toilet after a nauseous spell, Dylan flushed the toilet for me and said, "Yea!". The other favorite is when I was at the toilet yet another time and through the whole process, Dylan had his hand on my shoulder as if he were trying to give me some unsaid bit of encouragement. It was touching to me, but truth be known he was probably just trying to get a closer peak as to what I was doing.

I get to find out what we're having on the 20th of this month and I am already counting down. Everyone keeps asking me if I want it to be a boy or a girl. Luckily, the way I view it is, this one I really would be perfectly happy either way. If it's a boy, then Dylan will have a little buddy he can play with. If it's a girl, that would be great too because it would be something different for us. Not to mention the fact that my Father-in-law would probably be ecstatic since he is up to four grandsons and no granddaughters. So, we'll see. Other than that, everything is going pretty good.

Toddler Bed

Despite my wishes to keep Dylan in his crib until he was like 5, the little dare devil escaped again! The funny thing is this time I didn't even hear the jump when he got out, I just heard banging on his door. After a little mourning, I converted his crib to toddler bed. He loved the fact that he could get inside his bed whenever he wanted to. The first nap didn't go too well ( I blame that mostly on the fact that it was 4:00 in the afternoon when everything was set up for us to attack nap time for the second time after his great escape) but, after that it has been surprisingly smooth. He cracks me up because when he's up and he wants to get out, he just bangs on his door. Anyhow, here are some pictures I took of the transition. I love the way how he was hamming it up while I was taking pictures.
