Owen is 1 month!

On Monday I took Owen in for his one month appointment. That was the day that they estimated that it rained around 8 inches in that one day alone with the flooding that happened out here! I dreaded having to go out and the thought of rescheduling did cross my mind, especially since Isaac was out of town and I had to take both kids out in the nasty weather. But I made up my mind that we would go anyways.

Owen is a VERY healthy 1 month old. These were his stats...

Weight:12 lbs 95th percentile
Height: 22 in. 75th percentile
Head: 38 cm. 50th percentile

What kills me is that when I went home from his check-up, I looked up Dylan's measurements from when he was one month and little Owen who weighed less than a lb. in difference to Dylan's weight at birth, now weighed more than Dylan when he was one month. Pretty crazy!

I am going to borrow this idea that Kara did with my niece Madeleine to help document Owen's growth through his first year. Here is Owen with his teddy at one month.

Here are some more random pictures that I have taken recently of Owen.

Owen fell asleep with his leg sticking up in the air!

Dylan wanted to be in the picture too! He has been my big helper lately. Here are some examples:
  • If he finds a pacifier, he will hand it to me.
  • When I was giving Owen his bath tonight he was putting all of his bath toys in the baby tub for Owen to play with.
  • He will sometimes pat Owen on the back while I am burping him.

I put Owen in his play gym the other day, and he seemed to enjoy looking at the animals. What a cute little guy!

I think this has to be the funniest expression that I have caught of him on camera. It makes me laugh looking at it.

There are more posts that I am working on for today so keep scrolling down.

You know you're a couponer when...

you can hardly shut the door to your freezer because of all of the groceries you just can't pass up!

My pantry, cabinets, and refrigerator aren't much better. Thanks to Cassidie on recommending me to Southern Savers. I am so hooked! I love getting stuff for free or close to it, or better yet, when you are paid to buy a product.

Play ball!

Dylan loves baths and loves having his picture taken!

I am married again!

After several months of swollen fingers, I can finally fit this back on my finger!

Photo Shoot

Just 4 days after Owen was born, we went to visit my sister, Kara, to have her take our pictures. It was awesome to be able to have this done so soon with Owen, so we could capture just how new he looked (he is already starting to change!). With Dylan he didn't have his pictures taken until he was like 6 weeks old, so, it meant a lot to me to be able to capture these memories of our precious newborn. It was also nice to get some as a family. Kara sure did have her work cut out for her. We are so pleased with how they turned out. Thanks Kara!!!

The funniest thing about our shoot was how terrified Dylan was of the rubber chicken Kara uses as an attention getter for the kids she photographs. She pulled it out, and this was his expression.

Madeleine was there to protect him though!

Here are my favorite family shots. Just a heads up, some pictures I liked better in color and some I liked with different effects added.

My over achiever

On Thursday I had to take Owen to get his weight checked since he had been loosing weight since he had left the hospital. He was 8 lbs. 8 oz. at birth, 8 lbs. 3 oz. two days later, and 8 lbs. 3 days after he was born. Then, exactly one week later, he weighed in at 9 lbs. 3 oz. Wow! Dylan did something pretty similar to this, but it still amazes me that someone so little can gain so much in such a little time! They say that they like to see babies reach their birth weight by the time they reach 2 weeks, and Owen cleared that by a healthy 11 oz.

In other news, Dylan has been funny about having a baby in the house. Most of the time, he pays him no attention. But, some of the time, he will talk to him in his high pitched baby voice saying, "Baby Owend," or "little fingers". He also includes him in prayers (sometimes several times in the prayer) when we are saying what we are thankful for. He hasn't been too jealous either, although, sometimes when I am feeding Owen he hands me a car and wants me to play with him. All in all it has been a pretty smooth transition.

Owen has still been a pretty good baby for me. Last night he only woke me up twice for feedings and after changing and burping him, he went right back to sleep. I think Heavenly Father knew that I really could not handle another Dylan in my life right now!

Owen is fairly decent in not trying to break out of his swaddle, but he's so precious when he does manage to wiggle his arms out.
